IAPH Sustainability Award | Digitalization

Initiated by the Port of Rotterdam, Routescanner is creating transparency in global container logistics. A neutral and free-to-use multimodal platform bringing the schedules of carriers and operators together in one place. Which facilitates sustainable decisions making by forwarders and cargo owners. To provide the most accurate and complete data, Routescanner works directly with over 200 carriers and operators, resulting in a harmonized data set, connecting 4.500 terminals globally by over 750.000 schedules daily. On top of this, Routescanner uses an extensive database of rail, barge, shortsea and deepsea schedules, which already covers the global deepsea and the complete European inland and shortsea network. Routescanner is continuously extending its proprietary algorithms which offers its users complete door-to-door routes which are best fitting their need. It presents to the user multiple complete door-to-door solutions to be compared based on selected criteria. To promote the lowest emission footprint, the default sorting option in the Routescanner door-to-door search is set to the lowest emission value of the entire route. Facilitating a much-needed change, as the easiest way for forwarders and cargo owners to start reducing their logistics related emissions is to make better routing decisions. To further promote the sustainability aspect of multimodal solutions, when applicable, the direct savings potential as compared to the direct trucking solution is shown at each individual result. Routescanner supports standardization of global container logistics and acts accordingly. Therefore, it’s accredited by the smart freight center for applying the globally accepted GLEC-standard for logistics emissions on all modalities. Routescanner is endorsed by the biggest ports in the world. Qingdao, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Gothenburg, Sohar and many more ports are already partnering with Routescanner to further complete this centralized trusted repository for accurate up to date schedule information and to work together in creating transparency, sustainability, and efficiency in container logistics.
